Very, Very rarely a new young band emerges as
if out of nowhere, fully formed and matured, playing familiar
material but in a definitively personal manner, and you know from
the first moment you hear them that this band is destined for big
things.
Ignoring current fashions, certainly not obsessed with style,
Tipitina are this very special thing. They draw loosely on the
rhythm & blues and boogie of New Orleans from James Booker, Dr.
John, Professor Longhair (whose song and nightclub inspired their
name) Allen Touissant, Cousin Joe and the like. |
